Oh boy. I know everyone wants to compare Peter Berg to Michael Bay right about now. I’m sure a lot of people saw the trailer for “Battleship” and were tricked into going, thinking it was really “Transformers 4″….but it’s not. Don’t get me wrong. The movie is still big and dumb and loud and packed with actors who can’t act. Except Liam Neeson. He is still a bad mofo. Unfortunately he look soooo bored in the few scenes he is in. Maybe that’s because he is mostly left out of the last half hour of the movie, which is the only redeeming section of this based on a board game flick. As far as offensive and cruel movies go, ‘The Dictator’ is funny as hell
Sometimes, we need a mean spirited, offensive movie to put us in our place. I’m sure a lot of people are going to see “The Dictator” and get offended, try and get it banned. Some are going to call writer and actor Sacha Baron Cohen a racist. Maybe they are right. The movie is one of the most offensive I’ve seen in long time. ‘Dark Shadows’ might be a sign that it’s time for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp to see other people
You would think that Tim Burton and Johnny Deep teaming up to do a story about vampires love story that spans centuries would be the perfect movie for them. I thought so, too. I was wrong. What started out on paper with promise hit screens with a great big snooze. “Dark Shadows” is based on a TV show that was on the air before I was born. I’d say that people who watched the vampire soap opera might be able to appreciate it more than I did, but judging from those that I’ve talked to, that isn’t the case.
