Tarantino doesn’t hold back in ‘Django Unchained’ — movie review

Django3Quentin Tarantino is the quintessential definition of the modern day film auteur. Going back to “Reservoir Dogs” has compiled a brilliant resume of films that while you may not ever know what QT is going to do, you can definitely recognize that distinct Tarantino flare for the shockingly ridiculous. “Django Unchained” is Tarantino’s ode to spaghetti westerns, following a slave on a quest for revenge against the white man. Buckle your seat belts.

Tom Cruise tries his best but ‘Jack Reacher’ is barely average — movie review

jackreacherBased on the crime novel “One Shot” by British author, Lee Childs, “Jack Reacher” begins with a lone gunman picking off innocent civillians — a scene that may hit close to home for some. Pittsburgh police are on the scene quickly and a quick investigation points to former military sniper, James Barr (Joseph Sikora). Barr is quickly detained but instead of confessing to the five murders, he asks only for Jack Reacher (Cruise), a former military cop who isn’t so much into asking a lot of pointless questions as he is in just bring bad guys to brutal and painful justice.

‘This is 40’ goes to great and sometimes boring lengths for laughs

THISis40aEveryone turns 40 eventually. You can’t run. You can’t hide. Try putting a 38 on your birthday cake every year or lying about what year you were born to so many different people that you can’t keep your lies straight — they only work for so long before people catch on. These are two very real ways Debbie tries to pretend she isn’t turning 40 in Judd Apatow’s new comedy, “This is 40”. Debbie isn’t fooling anyone. Getting old, or life, is inevitable. There is no avoiding it. That being said, it’s only as bad as you allow it to be.
