‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’ (2012) review

Kids are pretty easy to please. So, you’d think the formula for a blockbuster animated movie would be pretty easy. Solid animation, which shouldn’t be hard considering the millions of geeks who can perform quality grade animation without Hollywood’s help; throw in some talking animals, the more unique the better; cast some popular Hollywood actors, who parents may recognize before the kids; put them all in an easy to follow plot that is one part adventure, one part friendship lesson and one part morality tale. Surely, I’m not the only one that has this figured out. The “Ice Age” creators apparently haven’t.

‘Savages’ (2012) movie review

Director Oliver Stone hasn’t made a badass movie for years. His sequel to “Wall Street” a couple of year ago was solid but lacked electricity. I’m not talking the kind of electricity he used to churn out when he was tripping balls filming movies like “Natural Born Killers” either. It just seems that his recent movies have been a little…generic. Thankfully, “Savages” proves that the director may still have a few tricks up his sleeve.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ (2012) movie review

We’re living in an age of reboots and remakes. It’s not that the Spider-Man remake or reboot– whatever they’re calling it– isn’t warranted, it’s just the fact that it would have been better if it was done under the Marvel Studios banner and not Sony. But it is what it is and we get “The Amazing Spider-Man” the first in the rebooted series following the trilogy directed by Sam Raimi. The new flick stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, who are both very good actors.
