Wow. Remember when Ben Stiller used to be funny? Don’t think too long and hard, you might hurt yourself. At one time though, Stiller was a pretty funny dude. C’mon– admit it– “Zoolander”, as goofy as it is…is pretty hilarious. The same goes for Vince Vaughn. He’s another guy that was usually pretty solid even in bad movies. The original “Men in Black” was a movie that helped put Will Smith on the map of bankable movie stars. It was funny, inspired and original. The chemistry between Smith’s smart ass Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones’ dry Agent K was spectacular. The sequel, however, was so bad it almost made the first one look bad by association. Explosions and eye candy make ‘Battleship’ fun, but it’s still stupid
Oh boy. I know everyone wants to compare Peter Berg to Michael Bay right about now. I’m sure a lot of people saw the trailer for “Battleship” and were tricked into going, thinking it was really “Transformers 4″….but it’s not. Don’t get me wrong. The movie is still big and dumb and loud and packed with actors who can’t act. Except Liam Neeson. He is still a bad mofo. Unfortunately he look soooo bored in the few scenes he is in. Maybe that’s because he is mostly left out of the last half hour of the movie, which is the only redeeming section of this based on a board game flick.
